The Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) is a game reserve located in the center of Botswana. Its nearest town is called Ghanzi. CKRG is the 2nd largest wildlife reserve in the world and it is 52 800 square kilometers big. It is rich in wild animals including amongst many lions, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, wild dogs, wildebeest, warthogs, springbok, kudu and gemsbok. The best season to view these animals is between December and April.

CKGR has 4 entrance gates:

1st gate is Matswere in the North East reached from Rakops and it is popularly used by people from or to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary.

2nd gate is Xade gate on the West towards Namibia and Near Ghanzi.

3rd gate is the Tsau Gate on the North West connected to the main road from Ghanzi to Maun and it is popularly used by travelers going to Maun and Namibia.

4th gate is the Southern gate on the South and connects to Khutse Game reserve.

The best spot to tour CKGR where wildlife is vast, is the Northern half of the reserve. 4×4 adventurous self-drives, campsite overnight stay and Safari lodge stay are highly recommended and doable in the CKGR.
