Moremi game reserve is a breathtaking, most beautiful place full of wildlife species, birdlife, a diverse landscape together with floodplains and beholding woodland. It is a sight one will never forget. It is named after Chief Moremi III from a dominant ethnic group called Batawana in the North of Botswana. The reserve covers 4 871 kilometers square of land and covers 40% of Eastern section of the Okavango delta. The time when the reserve is mostly visited is during the dry season and game viewing is mostly done from July to October, when pans have dried up and wildlife concentrated at permanent water sources to quench their thirst. During the winter season from May to August, it is cold in the morning and evening. It can be hot during the day and night from October to November, after November the rainy reason will begin.

The wild animals in the Moremi range from many elephants, buffalos, giraffes, leopards, cheetah, lions, antelopes, red lechwe, hyena, jackal and wild dogs. Water birds such as fish eagle, African darter, white faced whistling ducks can be spotted amongst many. There are also over 1 000 species of plants to be found on this reserve.

There are numerous luxury bush and safari lodges found in the periphery of the reserve. There also numerious campsites in Moremi which are:

  1. Third Bridge Campsite: it is on the western side of the Moremi Game reserve along the offspring of Moanachara River. It is heavily concentrated of wildlife during the dry season.
  2. Xakanaka Campsite: also located on the western side of the reserve, this camp aslo has abundant wildlife.
  3. Khwai River Campsite: located at the North gate enterance at the Khwai River. The khwai flood plains and surrounding woodand will keep one mesmerized creating a remarkable environment for wildlife observartions.
  4. Magotho Campsite: the campsite receives relaxing abundant shad from the Camel thorn which are gigantic and towering towards the campsite. The campsite is 20km east of the Khwai village along the main Moremi- Savuti road. It is known for its diverse beautiful nature of woodland and wild animals.
  5. Khwai hippo pool Campsite: the campsite is located 4km from the Khwai village. The campsite is perfectly located along the riverfront and it is a prime area for birds and animals.
  6. Mbudi Campsite: the campsite is 15km from the Khwai village and it is famously known of its canopy shade provided by the leadwood trees.

All these campsites offer shared ablutions with hot water and there also various activities like walking safari experience with the bushmen (only at Khwai) and mokoro excursions.
